The Robert F. Thomas Chapel at Dollywood will receive new elements reflecting Parton’s faith and her connection to the Smoky Mountains.
A cascading mountainside waterfall will be added outside the chapel, creating a quiet setting where guests can pause and reflect.
New stained-glass windows also will be commissioned for the chapel. The windows will be inspired by Ecclesiastes 3:1, a Bible verse that held special meaning for Parton:
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
The artwork will depict the changing seasons of the Smokies, reflecting both Parton’s love for the mountains and the many seasons of her life and career.
The chapel is named for Dr. Thomas who delivered Dolly. He was paid with a bag of cornmeal.
