(SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Sevier Animal Care Center says they have an emergency need to place adult dogs in a forever home after an overrun at the shelter.

Adoptions fees are waved on all K9’s through 4/4/26.

“We are drowning in adult dogs! We are 21 dogs over our maximum capacity,” the shelter said on Facebook. “We desperately need foster homes and adopters! We are going to have to start housing dogs outside.”

The shelter opened in May 2025 and was designed to meet the needs of the county’s animals waiting for a forever home. The shelter is currently 21 dogs over capacity.

“We need to place at least 21 adult dogs to resume our daily life-saving efforts,” she shelter said in an urgent call for help.

The shelter will be open until 5 p.m. on Friday and opens Saturday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
