A busy airport means it takes more time to get you checked-in and through security checkpoints.
(KNOXVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – The McGhee Tyson Airport in Knoxville said in a statement on Monday that travelers during peak travel times should plan to arrive two hours early at the airport.
Long lines through security have greeted some passengers recently. The airport said primary times you need to arrive early are early mornings, lunch periods and early evening.

June is taking off– literally! Summer travel is here, and it’s shaping up to be one of our busiest months ever. With more airlines and more places to go, the airport will be buzzing.
If you’re traveling, we strongly encourage arriving at least TWO HOURS before your flight and planning ahead for peak travel times:
5–7 a.m.
11 a.m.–1 p.m.
4–6 p.m.
