The interactive attraction uses optical illusions, unique exhibits and Smoky Mountain surprises to entertain the entire family.
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — Visitors looking for a family experience that challenges what they see can step inside the Ripley’s Illusion Lab in Pigeon Forge, where nothing is quite as it appears.
The attraction invites guests to explore a world of optical illusions, interactive displays and mind-bending experiences designed to make visitors stop and question what their eyes are telling them.
Alison Looney with Ripley’s said the concept began when the company gave Professor Paradox a space to create and experiment.
“We said, ‘We want you to have room to do your experiments. We want you to create more things for Ripley’s,’” Looney said. “A couple of weeks later, we came back and found all these illusions.”
Guests are encouraged to walk through the attraction and discover the surprises for themselves, with exhibits designed to create moments where visitors have to pause and think about what they are seeing.
“It’s basically a place where you are seeing the unexpected,” Looney said. “You have to sit there and think, ‘What am I actually seeing right now?’”
One of the most popular experiences includes photo opportunities throughout the attraction, including a bear-themed illusion inspired by the Smoky Mountains.
“The bear one is the best one,” Looney said. “There are things here that are specific to the Smoky Mountains that you haven’t experienced anywhere else.”
The Illusion Lab is designed for all ages, giving children, parents and grandparents a chance to enjoy the experience together.
“Kids, grandparents, parents — everybody is going to love it,” Looney said.
Visitors can also include the Illusion Lab as part of Ripley’s combo ticket options, including the Elite Combo Pass, which features access to the aquarium and all 11 Ripley’s attractions throughout Sevier County.
Located along the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, Ripley’s Illusion Lab offers families a chance to create memories while exploring a world where seeing isn’t always believing.
