Rain moving through, areas below or near freezing

(GATLINBURG, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – We’re waking up on Sunday with areas of freezing rain and sleet in Western North Carolina and Tennessee.

At 7 a.m. temperatures across the area were at or just below freezing.

These numbers are critical as the next surge of moisture moves into the area.

Overnight, there have been several thousand with out power, but no major issues on the roads with the lull of moisture. Police departments continue to remind drivers there could be some icy spots on bridges.
