(GATLINBURG, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – A blanket of snow and ice collected on roadways and parking lots in the Great Smoky Mountains overnight Sunday.
The Great Smoky Mountains National Park already had roads closed in advance of the winter weather. Monday, they announced the visitors centers would be closed as well.
The park shared this picture of a snow covered parking lot. The park shared other pictures of snow covered roads as well.

Outside of the park, a light blanket of snow fell on Sevier County, but no reports of major issued. Secondary roads were coated with ice in spots.

National Park Service said, “Crews continue to address downed trees and spread sand on sidewalks and parking lots at lower elevations, but any open roads will still be icy.”
