(SEVIERVILLE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – A threat for severe storms will impact the Great Smoky Mountains for Wednesday evening. These storms will bring gusty winds and heavy downpours at times.

TIMING OF STORMS
The timing of the storms is after 6 p.m. for the Knoxville area and then until after midnight on Thursday morning. The strongest storms will impact the Gatlinburg area around 10 p.m. Cherokee will see the strongest impacts around midnight.
STORM IMPACTS
Gusty winds 30 mph will be possible with these storms. The severe storm threats are greatest Northwest of Knoxville, but there will be some smaller storms that could get a brief downpour with gusty winds 50+ mph. Watch for run-off issued in the Smoky Mountains
Hail will be a greater possibility over Knoxville and Maryville than in Gatlinburg. Small hail it’s a complete zero impact for anyone.
