(HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Haywood County has $250,000 headed to help with housing in the area.
Haywood Habitat for Humanity builds and preserves safe, affordable homes in partnership with low- and very low-income families across Haywood County.
According to Haywood Habitat for Humanity, they will receive the 2026 National Neighborhood Promise Grant. The grant is made available through the Republic Services Charitable Foundation.
The group says the funding will support the creation of a nature walking path and play area to connect Habitat’s Chestnut Park neighborhood to the surrounding community.
“This investment will help make Chestnut Park a greener, safer, and more vibrant place for families to gather and enjoy,” the press release said.
For 35 years, Haywood Habitat for Humanity has worked alongside local families to build and preserve safe, affordable housing in our community. This new project goes even further—helping create welcoming outdoor spaces that encourage connection, recreation, and a stronger sense of neighborhood.
