(WAYNESVILLE, N.C.) SMOKIES.LIVE – A renovated historical home in Waynesville is officially open to the public with a grand opening celebration on April 20th.
Mary Anna Koehring and her husband have been working to renovate the historic Prospect Hill home. Listed on the National Historic Registry, there are five guest rooms with private bath, Wi-Fi, and cable tv. Breakfast is served in the dining room or on the spacious, sunny front porch.
“We are trying to give travelers something that we enjoy. We enjoy traveling and going to places that sort of feel like home away from home,” said Koehring. “We also want to give people a taste of things that we love. We love Waynesville, we’re right on Main Street and we want to give people easy access to that.”

From each room you get a cozy feel as if you were home. The windows offer different views of the Great Smoky Mountains, and you get space to sit and relax or do nightly reeding in private before bed all wh ile you see the nods to history all around you.
“It’s definite historic. Prospect Hill was the original name of Waynesville years ago. after the Revolutionary war it was renamed Waynesville. So, we are honored to name this piece of history in Waynesville,” added Koehring.

She believes most any traveler will love to stay in Prospect Hill. She said this may be a great place to make anyone who travels feel something homey. She said some of the decor gives eclectic nods to their own travels around the world.

“This place is special because you can’t build something like Prospect Hill anymore,” she said. “The architecture is completely unique, the woodwork is beautiful, the layout is different and the location is second to none.”
