Airline’s 2027 schedule highlights growing presence in East Tennessee after launching flights from McGhee Tyson Airport

As families begin thinking about spring break plans, Southwest Airlines is expanding its flight schedule with more options for travelers across the country — including new service from Knoxville.

The airline’s spring 2027 schedule is now available for booking through early April 2027, with expanded routes, increased departures and new destinations designed to connect travelers with beaches, mountains and vacation destinations.

Southwest’s growth comes after the airline launched service at Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport in March 2026, marking its third Tennessee airport alongside Nashville and Memphis.

The new Knoxville service includes daily flights to several major destinations, including:

  • Baltimore/Washington, D.C.
  • Dallas Love Field
  • Orlando
  • Nashville

Southwest also added seasonal weekend service connecting Knoxville with Denver, giving East Tennessee travelers another option for mountain getaways and outdoor adventures.

The addition of Southwest service provides more opportunities for travelers visiting the Great Smoky Mountains, with easier connections for visitors planning trips to East Tennessee.

For spring break 2027, Southwest is continuing to expand in several key markets, including record-high departures from Austin and Orlando, while adding new routes and increasing service in growing cities such as Nashville and Las Vegas.

The airline’s expanded schedule includes new and increased service to popular vacation destinations, including international routes to Costa Rica, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Southwest is also adding more options from Nashville, including seasonal and new routes designed to give travelers more choices when planning vacations.

The airline says the expanded schedule was built around customer demand, with different flight schedules offered throughout the week to match changing travel patterns.

For East Tennessee travelers, the addition of Southwest at McGhee Tyson Airport gives families more options to begin their vacations closer to home while avoiding longer drives to larger airports.

Southwest officials say the airline will continue focusing on expanding service and improving access to destinations for travelers nationwide.
