NCDOT said it would have lane closures until Thursday for a section of Interstate 40 that runs through Haywood County in North Carolina.
(HAYWOOD COUNTY, N.C.) SMOKIES.LIVE – One lane of Interstate 40 through Haywood County will close this week while contractors for NCDOT work on replacing two bridges.
Closures start Monday at 7 p.m. and will last through Thursday at 5 p.m.
The lane closure is necessary for the safety of the travelling public and construction staff while they prepare to shift traffic into a temporary alignment over Beaverdam Road. Zachary Construction is replacing the two bridges — one in each direction — over Beaverdam Road as part of a $33 million contract that calls for completion in April 2028.
Crews said they will close one lane beyond Newfound Road at Exit 33 from 7 p.m. Monday, May 11, through 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.
