Captain Barry “Butch” Wilmore shares how God helped him after his mission planned for eight days stretched into nearly a year.
(PIGEON FORGE, Tenn.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Butch Wilmore became a household name for many who followed his journey in space when multiple attempts to return home were aborted.
In his new book, Stuck in Space, he said this is more than a memoir of a journey to space and back, this is a story of formation: how a faithful God shapes His people long before the watching world ever sees the outcome.
Wilmore spoke to fans and aspiring astronauts during a visit to the Truth Traveler in Pigeon Forge.
“Don’t even think about that, just live your life for God’s glory and share his blessings and truth wherever you have that opportunity,” he said. “He’s given me opportunity because of that. Because of that the world needs Jesus and that really is what drives me.”
Barry “Butch” Wilmore, U.S. Navy Captain (Ret.) and NASA astronaut, has flown three space missions and spent 464 days in orbit. A Tennessee native and Tennessee Tech graduate, he is a test pilot with over 8,000 flight hours and 663 carrier landings.
