Crisp mornings, colorful mountains and scenic back roads are waiting in the Smokies.

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Adventure Center)Are you ready for fall yet?

After a long, hot summer, there’s something special about that first crisp morning, the smell of fall in the air and the first hints of color beginning to show across the Smoky Mountains.

If you’re already dreaming about cool mornings, colorful leaves and a scenic getaway, first think about Sevierville.

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit the Great Smoky Mountains. Peak autumn color is typically enjoyed from mid-October through mid-November, with the brilliant display beginning in the higher elevations before gradually making its way down the mountains toward Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville.

And there’s more to fall in Sevierville than simply watching the leaves change.

🚗 Take the Back Roads

Amanda Marr with the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce says visitors can experience the season through eight different back-road driving tours highlighting the unique places, stories and culture of the community.

“We created eight different back road driving tours here in Sevierville that really highlight the unique places, the stories, the culture of our community,” Marr said.

One of those stops is Blowing Cave Grist Mill, sitting at the base of English Mountain.

“It’s just a fun way to experience the area, see some fall leaves, and get out of the crowd,” Marr said.

The English Mountain Fall Driving Tour is just one of eight options. Visitors can also explore routes taking them toward Douglas Lake or the Middle Prong of the French Broad River.
