City leaders will gather at Covenant Health Park Friday morning to honor those lost and recognize first responders.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Smokies.LIVE Events Center) — Knoxville will pause Friday morning to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, as the city marks the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.
Mayor Indya Kincannon and other Knoxville city leaders will gather at Covenant Health Park at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, for a ceremony honoring the anniversary.
The observance will honor those who lost their lives, recognize the courage and sacrifice of first responders and service members, and reflect on the resilience that has continued to bring Americans together in the years since the attacks.
The 25th anniversary provides an opportunity to remember the nearly 3,000 people who died that day and the countless first responders, military personnel and others whose lives were forever changed.
City leaders are inviting the community to join them as Knoxville remembers, honors and reflects on the enduring impact of Sept. 11.
