(BRYSON CITY, N.C.) SMOKIES.LIVE – Firefighters with the U.S. Forest Service in North Carolina said significant rainfall overnight helped fire supression efforts on the Wiggins Creek Fire.
The fire holds at 58 acres with 60% containment according to the service.
Firefighters are working diligently to secure and strengthen control lines. Fire activity is minimal, and fire crews assigned to the Wiggins Creek Fire are available to respond should a new incident arise.
Firefighters with the forest service said temporary flight restrictions are in place for safety reason.
30 firefighters continue to get containment lines around the remaining fire.
